I purchased the softphone yesterday, however the damn thing doesnt work. im not going through the hassle of bypassing unless someone can come up with an easy vpn solution or proxy solution for the softphone or any otehr method. I am really getting tired of all of this greediness.
Is everyone keeping up the pressure?

Hi guys
Interesting articles posted, Moh. Thanks.
Seems like the TRA are actually taliking about this, which can only be good news.
Ragga - I'm very surprised that softphone does not work! Even through a VPN? This would suggest that the V-Phone would also not work. Ho hum...
Does anyone know where to find the TRA's actual legal document as to
Voip
?

Post subject: Still at it
Hey guys
Just to let you know that the pressure is being kept up. Calls to DIC/TECOM Being a technical dunce, I can't contribute in any other way!
If I can help by testing anything, i'd happy tp do so.

just a thought...for all those whose skype is nto working. Are you guys using the ADSL router provided by etisalat? I heard that that's a source of the problem. I do not use any etisalat equipment at my house and skype works fine. My
Voip
service also works fine on the traditional
Voip
port - 5060 (not
Vonage
though).
let me know if that helps...

Post subject: Skype via VPN
I'm still out of town, and can't do this test myself...but i was wondering if anybody has attempted skype via VPN without complaints? I mean in theory it should work, and if it does, does it cause speed/reliability problems? D-Link makes a USB-->Phone Adapter for Skype and I'm wondering of using that as opposed to my
Vonage
PAP2 if this thing works...lemme know please.

I'm sitting here in a Starbucks in A.D. logged onto I-Zones. I noticed that Skype was up and sucessfully called the Skype call testing service (e.g. Echo123).

I am writing this message regarding Re-routing
Voip
traffic through witopia.net dedicated VPN server.
Having Experience in the past with Etisalat, UAE Based Provider, I believe that this solution will work only until point once Etisalat will block access to your server.
So it is not a solution, since it may happen any next coming Day.

Hi all.
Hope pressure is still on, at all possible fronts.
Letter in &days today would have sent some more signatories to the petition site. Well done, whoever you may be!
Regarding VPN, I was connecting skype thru a VPN (public, pay-per-period site) when the Etisalat block first came about in July, but not extensively so cannot comment too much about speed/quality. Seemed ok.. not great, but ok. Not willing to sign up for that VPN service again unless I can get my
Vonage
line workingthrough it.
Stu - have heard reports of some people getting Skype to work, by re-installing an older version of it. You done that?
Cheers,
Chris
