dsl modem -> rpt31r2-> wireless srx400, computer, other Voip phone adapter
cannot find a search function to try to see if this is already posted somewhere??
seems would be best to change the rpt31p2 to a standard phone adapter and let the wireless be the only router and have everything work off that.
as is, nothing works properly - not a robust set up. i did disable the dchp on router but lost connection to internet from computer however Vonage phone continued to work.
my comprehension of this tech. is very low.
to keep it simple, can someone advise if i should scrap rpt31p2 and change out for a phone adapter and simply have the srx400 as the only router?
computer geek here and had it working - kinda - but not a robust enough set up for a non techy like me. |

I'd set it up as:
DSL Modem--> SRX400 --> RT31P2, with your computers connected to the SRX400, NOT the RT31P2. If there's no computers connected to the RT31P2, then there's no need to disable the router on it.
Also, if you start having issues with Voip on that router, disable SPI Filtering on it. I think they might have fixed this problem, but not 100% sure. |

First, I agree with VonageTPA. I have an SRX400 and the RT31P2 and use it in this configuration.
The SPI firewall issue is fixed in a firmware upgrade so it will depend on when you got the router.
The version that fixed the problem was 1.00.15.
When I upgraded I needed to do a hard-reset to make the changes take effect. If you have to upgrade firmware to make this change, please let me know and I will find the specific steps for you. |

went to linksys.com and firmware download not avail. I have the rpt and its showing 1.30.01
for "basic" user, would it be best to switch out the rpt for a non router phone adapter and let the srx400 be the one and only router? problem is i am also trying to set up a wireless system for my laptop and printer.
the computer fix it guy was not familiar enough with the Voip thing and likely should have told me that router to router was not a ideal scenario.
i am a simple computer user just looking for a simple network without having to "maintain" a network. suggestions? |

He meant check for new firmware for the SRX400. Vonage automatically controls the firmware for their adapters. |
