In the event of a power outage (or ISP outage), your Vonage service won't work.
This includes calls to 911.
Vonage makes this clear to you if you read their user agreement when you signed up. This poll is a survey to see whether or not Vonage users are taking that in stride. As with any multiple-choice survey, choose your BEST answer from the options above. |

I have a cell phone and have my cable modem and MTA hooked up to an UPS. |

You know, I was thinking about the possibility of using a UPS, but I must have forgotten to include it in the poll. |

If you rarely use a cell phone and don't want to be one of "those people", and just plan on using it when you travel, then Tracfone is the way to go. You can buy a 1 year subscription and phone for about $150. That will also give you 20 min of air time. You can purchase more minutes if you need. The cool thing is, once you purchase the 1 year subscription, you don't have to pay nothing for the rest of the year unless, of course, you need to buy more minutes. That way you only use the phone when you NEED too, instead of driving a bigassed SUV with a load of kids while blabbing on the cellphone, trying to show off to all the other women of the town what being a trophy wife will get you. |

I am of the understanding that ALL cellphones, whether activated or not, MUST be able to contact 911. So, if you can get ahold of an old cellphone when a friend of yours upgrades, just keep it charged and turned off. When you need to dial 911, turn it on and dial.
Somebody correct me if I am wrong. |

Just make sure your "old" cell phone is not a digital signal only.
Some cell sites have problems with digital only signal and not
being also to revert to analog.
Just a thought. |

It's comforting to see that nobody has chosen option 6 or 7. |
