7. We had a lightning storm that appears to have taken out my Cable Modem (everything else came back on just fine). It was a Motorola Surfboard SB5120. The Comcast tech came out today and swapped out the Motorola with the RCA DCM315. Initially he had it direct connected to my Windows PC (running XP) and it worked fine. After he left, I connected the Cable modem to my Linksys Router and then to the PC. I plugged in the phone cord (have tried in both ports) and my internet connection works just fine. However, I am unable to get my phones to work. Am I missing a setting in my configuration?

Consider the possibility the lightning not only damaged the modem but the phone portion of the adapter.

Do the Phone lights on the router light up? Were you doing MAC address cloning before the power hit?

Thanks for the input.

Yes, I've considered that lightning may have taken out the phone ports on the Router. However, the router (other than the phone not getting a dial tone) appears to be working. As for the LED's for the 2 phone connectors, they both flash on about every 3 seconds. So, I'm not getting the same single connectivity LED that I would expect. It's almost as if it can't see anything plugged into either port.
Yes, I was using MAC address cloning previously.

Thanks again for any advice, etc.

Well, still no luck in getting this configuration to work.

I tried resetting all my connections and the phone still does not work. Also, I no longer can access the management page at 192.168.1.1.

What's the best way to get a replacement for my Linksys Router as I now believe the lightning probably caused a problem here as well as what happened to my cable modem?

I've checked Vonage's Help Section, but I don't see any information on how to get Vonage equipment replaced.

The router's admin page is defaultly at http://192.168.15.1/. You might want to try that and see if it lights up. If there's a reset button on the back of the router, you might want to hold that down for ~5-10 seconds and see if that helps bring it back to life.

Thanks for the reply. 192.168.15.1 got me in. I don't know why I was thinkning 192.168.1.1.

Anyway, I can access the admin page just fine and I have access to the internet (using it as I type) via the Linksys Router but still no phone. Both phone LED's just flash about once every three seconds. The 30 second hard reset didn't buy me anything.
One thing to note: when I go to the Linksys admin page and click on the Voice tab, I see a message that says: "Router still restarting. Please wait a moment." and then it just sits there. It never changes.

Any other suggestions before I just replace it? I went today and bought a Linksys WRTP54G from Radio Shack. I don't have any wireless devices yet, but figured it's just a matter of time. However, it's still sealed in the box so I can still take it back if I can just get this RT31P2 to work.
If it doesn't work, what are your thoughts on the WRTP54G router?

Thanks if advance for your replies and suggestions!

BTW, I called Vonage support today and got right through within a few minutes. I was pleasantly suprised and the speed at which I was able to actually speak to someone. He tried to do a reset from his end, but was not successful.

Update:

I never was able to get the old Router working, but the new one is working like a champ (so far)! Phones and internet are all working just fine.

Thanks again for your help!
