Hi all. I have been a lurker here for over a year and finnaly need some help please
I have the Belkin Pre N F5D8230-4 with RTP300. I had my setup as: Cable Modem>Belkin>RTP300 for some time, I had problems at first but they stopped after I tweakjed settings (it was so long ago that I cannot remember exactly what I did )
Anyways, we got our son a Nintendo DS and he ABSOLUTELY HAD TO HAVE the wireless working...could not get it to log in. Long story short...I reset the router and ever since then I have choppyness on all v onage calls. It is like a rythmic chop every second or so.
Vonage tech support and especially Belkin tech support are useless. I even three wayed a call with both I wish I could have recorded it...hillarious.
Anyways, all I want is my setup to work.
Anyone know how to get rid of the chop with this belkin?
I have tried disabling QOS and the firewall with NO success. I even tried putting the RTP300 in front of the Belkin but tech siupport could never tell me how to "mirror" the Belkin to the RTP300 and use it as an access point only.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanka all!! |

that's what you get for getting pre-n. at any rate, you have a few things to try. the easiest is putting it modem - rtp300 - belkin. I'm not sure why you're having such a problem with this. it should just work if you plug the belkin into one of the ethernet ports of the rtp300. you can turn off dhcp in the belkin, but I doubt it's necessary for you. or you can keep it modem - belkin - rtp300 and turn qos on in the belkin so that the rtp300 has priority. something to keep in mind, as far as I know, qos is completely wire based only. in other words, any wireless computers (or nintendo ds's) are not managed by qos, which could cause issues such as yours. so with that in mind, modem - rtp300 - belkin is probably your best route. the phone will still get priority that way, because the belkin is wired to the rtp300. (there is wireless qos which is called wi-fi multimedia, but I doubt your belkin has it, and even if it does, I really doubt the DS supports it) |

Thanks for the reply
I kinda had a baaaad feeling when I bought the pre-n
I have tried modem>RTP300>belkin and set the belkin as access point only. I can connect to it fine but I have no internet connection then. Belkin suppoort said I had to "mirror" the RTP's settings but they could not fidgure it out.
Any ideas?
Thanks again |

why are you messing with it at all? reset the belkin, plug it into the rtp300 and see what happens. it should work without a problem. if it doesn't, try disabling dhcp on the belkin. and make sure you aren't mac cloning on the belkin or anything (of course, the reset should take care of anything like that) |

If all else fails I would try port forwarding. this seemed to stablize my Belkin router and my TA |
