I switched my number from SBC/AT&T to Vonage. Before the switch my temporary # that Vonage gave me would show up on friends and families callerid's with my full name and my land line # that was getting switched over. Once the switch was done now when I call people it shows my number but instead of my name it shows Michigan Call... I tried calling Vonage but they didn't really give me a straight answer. Any idea how to fix it so when I call someone it shows my name again? My adapter is a Linksys WRTP54G and I use a WISP provider for internet. |

You can't. Enough said. There are 100 billion posts here (ok, not that many) about "Why my Caller ID only shows my number" or "Why does it say Vonage Holdings?". You cannot change it. This has come up many times this week. |

Sorry about that I should've done a search first. Hopefully Vonage will get this feature added someday however I guess its not biggie. |

It's not clear that it's an issue that Vonage can fix. The phone company at the receiving end adds this information from its data base. That phone company would have to add the Vonage data base information to its own data base to do it. |

I'm not truley convinced that that's the case. I went with Viatalk using a unlocked PAP2-NA and it was provisioned by Viatalk and my outgoing CID shows name and # to landlines and cell phone. |

there are widely used cnam and ldap databases. if the carrier (vonage, viatalk, whoever) provides your information to these companies, chances are most (all) phone companies will have that information, and your info will show up on other people's caller id's. Vonage does not provide customer information to these databases. also, there have been many reports that Vonage can and will remove "vonage holdings". in that case, the phone company for the line you call shows a default "name" (i.e. Unknown Caller, City, State, whatever else) |

I wish they would because a lot of people think these Michigan calls are telemarketers. |

don't hold your breath. but while you're waiting, there are probably upwards of 1,000 posts on this same issue over the years this forum has been around. |
