Yeah, I saw that, but that's ok. I feel if the word got put out there, and people see it, we've done well. I hate people that intentionally take advantage of others. It really annoys me.

I don't care whether other people like it, but if it drops of the list its not much good.
I asked someone who was selling something whether it would work again and he said it would since he un-registered it. Not sure whether its actually true though. So many auctions are so deceptive about whether it can be used again.

It's not true -
Vonage
will not provision a device that has already been registered on their system. Not sure what their motivation is to have that policy, but it is their perogative. I almost bought a "used"
Vonage
phone system (IP-8100) on EBay - luckily I saw somewhere on this board that it would not work. I just went out to Best Buy instead.

Yeah, there are plenty of deceptive auctions, and, unfortunately, shady sellers, but some of it (note, I say
some
of it, might be attributed to sellers that genuinely don't know (of course, they should say that).
For instance, if I were to cancel
Vonage
, and do it the right way, with proper notice and paying all that I owed, I would have assumed that someone else would be able to activate my PAP2 and signup as a new
Vonage
customer just as I could quit my satellite service and resell my receiver (at least before DirecTV went to the lease plan
).
As an experienced eBay seller, I would probably have done a bit of homework first, or at least clearly indicated that I did not know, but, again, truth is, I would have assumed the
Vonage
adapter could be reactivated! So maybe some of the sellers just don't know!
And I agree, it is an odd policy! And a good post with info to know!

Who wants to bet that the other two have eBay listings for
Vonage
devices?

Me! I was thinking the exact same thing

I wonder why EBay allows folks to sell used
Vonage
devices. Seems like it would be in their best interest to just not allow it. I'm sure they've gotten many complaints from people purchasing one of the used devices and then finding out they won't ever work for
Vonage
service.
Ebay don't seem to care much. On any day you will find auctions for several Motorola DCT6412 DVRs which are the set-top-boxes used by many cable companies such as Comcast. These tend to sell for over $300, but are totally unusable, and in most cases stolen. Lots of people obviously like expensive paper weights.

I agree, DMS, Ebay don't care as long as they get their "piece of the action."
