I have wired vonage into the jack in my house and disconnected the outside wires coming into the house. I get a dial tone and it will dial out. The issue I am having is I can't get it to hang up. Any suggestions??

Which adapter do you have? Does the phone light flash when you plug it into the house wiring? If so, does it stop flashing when you unplug it from the house wiring?
Are you sure that you're completely disconnected from the old land line? |

I'm having the exact same problem. Land line is definitely disconnected. Has anyone resolved this? |

I figured mine out. I used to have Comcast (ATT) digital phone service. When this was installed, they placed another box on my house that you need to open up and disconnect the wires from. The box I'm talking about was just above the cable junction and had the word "Arris" on it. Hope this helps. Truly, if it's not a home wiring problem, it's probably an issue with the wiring outside not being fully disconnected. |

Well, I will check again tommorow but we are fuly discoonected from the outside and there was never any other phone service while we lived here, but i will make sure.. it is just a plug that you remove to disconnect the line but there are 2 lines installed so there could be something else happening.
I am guessing it is home wiring, |

Well I decided to switch to viatalk (2 years for $200). As soon as I plugged their device into the outlet it worked so I didn't do anything else. I guess vonage is a bit picky??

I would have sworn that I was fully disconnected as well....and I was sure of it when I posted my first message. But, I'm happy that I took another look and really traced the phone wires. I hope it's something simple like I mentioned and not a needle-in-the-haystack search through the home wiring. |

I had the same exact problem. I used to have Cox cable digital phone service. Well Cox disconnected the cable, however, on their box the non-hangup problem went away when I completely severed the lines on that box as well as the UsWest NUI box.
Now all the jacks work great! |

Make sure you have pulled the plugs on the Cox/Comcast digital phone service. (aka phone through your cable TV). Even if it's disconnected, leaving the two leads connected caused this wierd hangup problem where the phone would never hang up a call. |
