Any of those routers potentially unbrickable, and something you're looking to be rid of? (grin)
I'm looking into compiling and maybe making a few mods to HyperWRT Thibor sometime in the future, but I'm too chicken to load my work on my own production router. Plus, I can always use a dumb switch. |

I've bricked a few of the WRT54GS routers, but I've always been able to un-brick them via TFTP & stock Linksys firmware. |

The first step to unbricking them is:
- Configure your computer to 192.168.1.50, subnet 255.255.255.0 - Connect the computer to the WRT54G(S). - Type "ping -t 192.168.1.1" and hit enter. - Power up the router.
Watch the lights, and the ping client. If the ping client starts getting responses, then you have a good chance.
Recovery: - Unplug the router - leave the PING running - start another DOS session. Type "tftp -i 192.168.1.1 PUT x.bin" where x.bin is the name of your Linksys firmware file. DO NOT press enter yet. - Plug in the router. - The INSTANT you start getting ping responses, press ENTER on the tftp command.
If you are quick on the draw (and it may take a few times), you may be able to re-flash the native Linksys firmware on there. If not, there are advanced methods involving soldering in cables and doing the transfer over a serial connection.

(or you could send me two routers, and I'll debrick both and send one back to you (grin)) |
