You can have as many phones connected that you want depending on how you wire your office.
You can have 4 ext. each one separate going to one phone for each ext. or you can have 12 phones for one or all the ext. if you loop the wire to each jack. What you have setup all depends on the phones you have too. I use At&t 974 Small Business Systems phones which can have 4 phone lines. Plus all the features of TalkSwitch work like caller ID and Message Waiting.
I don't know how best to describe it. But you can have one phone for one ext or more than one phone for each ext. That all depends on how you run your wire. Best to ask a phone expert.
If you have 4

phone lines you can make 4 calls. If you have 2

lines then you can only make 2 calls at a time. There is a difference between the lines that you have coming in and your local extensions.
Some companies only have one extension ring to one phone. Some might have each extension ring many phones. You can also setup talkswitch for Call Queue

Vonage
has settings for busy numbers to direct them to another number.
You can setup TalkSwitch to dial out from which ever line that you select.

Talkswitch is OK. I personally would have tried Fonality. They have a typical config versus them on their site somewhere.
Features and Price its no comparison.
