I switched to Vonage in January, porting my old no. over, and have been generally pleased. However, an unexpected consequence is that I do not appear in our new city phone directory. I called Vonage today and they advised that they do not supply Vonage numbers to 'Yellowbook', 'Verizon' or other phone directory providers. And if someone calls 411, my number is not available. I contacted Verizon and Yellowbook and they do not accept number changes or additions from individuals, only from businesses. They said to have my 'local phone co.' give them the number. I guess Vonage customers need to know this and enjoy having an 'unlisted no.', even when porting an old number as I did. Make sure everyone who might call you has your number when you switch over and before the next phone books come out as they and 411 will be useless in reaching you. If you have a business and use Vonage, hopefully you can get your number added to the next phonebook. |

Please see the thread Foreign Residential Listing for information on a possible way to have your number listed in your local white pages. |

I guess your thread is meant for people who didn't know your # in the first place? |

I just spent a frustrating 45 minutes being bounced from one Verizon customer "service" person to another in an effort to gain a white pages listing for my Vonage number. Two months ago I had more success, and in fact gave all the information required to set up the listing but I was never billed so it fell through the cracks somewhere. Today they insist that a listing can only be initiated by Vonage making the request to Verizon.
Does anyone have any recent success accomplishing this with Verizon?
I did read through the now locked thread "Foreign Residential Listing" and it offered me nothing I haven't tried. |

I always looked upon it as an additonal Vonage benefit to not have to pay Verizon to NOT be listed. |
