Once again reread what I wrote. I never said I would not pay what I owed. But I'm not going to allow Vonage to charge more than their entilted to. Therefore I will cancel my card. And it is not a violation of terms of service if I cancel my service. At that point I no longer have a contract with Vonage. So all you goody goody types can take a deep breath and step down off of your high horse. I will still cancel my card and I advise anyone who cancels Vonage do so to protect their bank accounts.

I did read what you wrote as did several others. And yes you did say that you would pay what was owed to Vonage. But you are still wrong in saying that by simply cancelling your credit card means that you no longer have a contract with Vonage. Per the TOS, your legally binding agreement with Vonage, you need to supply them with your new credit card. If your intent was to cancel your Vonage account, then no, you don't have to give them the card but per the TOS, your legally binding agreement with Vonage, you do need to contact Vonage and cancel your account. It doesn't just magically happen because you cancelled your credit card. If anything, you'll end up getting more charges for the steps they need to take to settle your account since you did claim that you'll wait for Vonage to call you if your hold time was over 10 minutes.

Advising others that this is the best way to go for cancelling their accounts is the most irresponsible thing I think I've seen on this board to date. What if your stellar advice got someone in some type of credit problem? You going to help them solve that as well? If being "goody goody" means that someone else won't follow your incredibly wonderful advice, then please escort me to the land of goody goody. I'll be the first to buy a house there.

Go ahead and do things they way you are going to do them. You're only helping or hurting yourself. But seeing how you've been wrong on several statements so far in this thread, don't hand out this advice to others.

Then we will all just have to agree to disagree. Because I won't change the way I feel just because some of you don't like it. And to the administrator who told me not to get PO'd. Yes I will watch my comments but you have no right to tell me how to feel. So you watch your comments too. What's fair is fair.

Are you for real? It's his website....I would tend to think he can say whatever he damned well feels like.

This thread sounds worse than my 12 year old kids fighting. At least they shut up after 33 posts and move onto something more exciting like girls-boys-worms-dolls...whatever.

I actually did have my card # stolen once and that week i also canceled my Vonage (this was a few years ago) they tried to charge me the $40 fee but i didint have a card to give.

They got the router back and after a month of bugging me they left me alone... even after UPS said it was delivered Vonage still wanted my updated CC card...

I have a friend who moved 4 months ago and no longer has high speed internet. She's called 29 DIFFERENT times and gets a "run-around" of people connecting her to different people or giving her different numbers to call. She's also tried written notice, they still won't cancel her. She's considering cancelling her credit card. In a few days it will be 5 months that she's paid that she couldn't even use the service if she wanted, she doesn't have internet anymore. Anyone have any suggestions besides cancelling the credit card?

i would charge back the 5 months and block Vonage from charging the card. no need to cancel the card. my bank will block any buisness for a one time $20 fee.
