My guess would be that he got it, found out it wouldn't work with Vonage, and sold it. It was locked before he got it. |

heck, either way the auction clearly states you must have Vonage to use the Voip portion of the router. you have Vonage and you can't use the Voip portion of the router. |

I have sort of the same issue. I bought a used PAP2 to replace an RT31P2 and when I called, this is what I was told too. I had the original owner call and he was told they would not do this, although the PAP2 now went from a provisioned to a terminated account state, to an unused state (from a wave-off/fast busy to the "you may have your phone in the wrong port" message on both ports), so Vonage did release the device from the original owner's account.
When I called Vonage, they said this is fine and they'd send the ticket to their next level to be provisioned. I have so far received an email stating they will not do it, and a call stating they are working on it. When I called yesterday I was told the ticket is still open and being worked on.
Also, let me state that the whole reason I bought the used one is because I called Vonage, asked them if I could do this, made it clear I would be using one that was used on a terminated account, and I was told this was fine.
So far I am three days into this and waiting to see how this turns out. I'm just peeved by the instability in the answers I get. Some say I can, some say I can't. |

Some say I can, some say I can't. | OK, so I called back on Wednesday since it had been the 48 hours. They said that there was no ticket and that this could not be done. After getting transferred to their second tier, who told me they could and would do it, he transferred me to a New Jersey tier 3 tech. I don't want to put his name here because I do not want him to get pounded with calls. He was technical, extremely friendly and overall, helpful. He stated that since I was told from the beginning I could do this, he would go ahead an do it. Last night I powered down both my devices and brought only the PAP2 up. Worked like a charm. Just though I'd give you all closure incase you were wondering how this turned out. |
