PostPosted: Sat Jun 17, 2006 4:26 pm    Post subject: Disable Call Waiting code? Reply with quote Back to top

I've read a few posts but no clear answer. I have TiVo that makes a daily call and I would like to be able to have TiVo temporarily disable call waiting when it makes it's call. I was always able to do this in the past by using *70, but that now doesn't work. Does anyone know the right code with Vonage or how I can get this working? I know how to disable on the website but that isn't an option here. I want it automatically done via TiVo.

*67 should block your caller id. and here it is at vonage.com even.
http://vonage.com/features.php?feature=caller_id_block
or do you mean call waiting?

As Reebok said . . . any chance you're meaning Call Waiting? On most POTS lines, #70 disables CALL WAITING, not Called ID; again, with most POTS lines and with Vonage, #67 blocks Caller ID on a per call basis. Not sure why you'd want to block called ID from Tivo, though.

Yes, your right and sorry for the confusion. I edited my original post, and did indeed mean temporarily disable call waiting.

*70 does disable call waiting. Is it not working for you?

Have you tried programing tivo with a pause after the *70?

I just tried again and added the pause and it now works. Thanks very much for the tip...

I don't have TiVo but I'm wondering, does TiVo call a local number or a toll-free number?

If it's a toll-free number, your number will be disclosed to the receiving party whether or not you use selective call blocking. There's no way around this. That's just the way it works.

It calls a local # and I'm not trying to block the call. I just wanted to disable call waiting so if someone calls me during the download it doesn't interrupt it needing to try again.

Silly me. I'm reading this again in the morning and now I can see my "help" from last night was totally off the mark. That's what I get for trying to be helpful late at night.

Good luck.
