Post subject: Another router question.........
I have my home network setup like this:
Cable modem -> Motorola/Vonage router -> LAN side of Netgear FVS318.
When setup this way, the Netgear firewall capabilites are not working at all (it's acting as a switch only), so I lose all it's firewall & DNS features. I've tried setting up the Motorola router on the WAN side of the Netgear router with the IP aquired thru the DHCP from the Motorola, but never got any data on the PCs hooked up to the Netgear.
Ideally I'd like to get it working when hooked up to the WAN link side of the Netgear FVS318. Or hook the network up this way:
Cable modem -> WAN side of Netgear FVS318 -> LAN side of Netgear FVS318 -> Motorola/Vonage router
I tried hooking the network up this way but the voice quality was terrible. I have a coworker who has it hooked up this way now & is getting good quality voice with a different cable co. He has a very similar setup as my own (equipment & config). But at least the DNS & firewall capabilities of the FVS318 are being used.
I'd like to do one of the following, either:
1. Get the first config to work with the Motorola hooked up to the WAN side of the FVS318, enabling the firewall & DNS in the FVS318.
or
2. Get the voice quality up to make the 2nd config work. Reading all the posts in this forum, it sounds like there are several people who prefer this method.
Any ideas much apprieciated....

I'm having a very similar problem and nothing seems to be working for me. I'll be watching this topic to see what solutions you're offered.
