Because I'm going to be getting an additional Vonage adapter for a business line, I decided to throw my old BEFSR41 into my home network (so I'd have enough ports for everything).

Everything (phone, internet) seems to be working correctly except for one thing--I can no longer connect to the Vonage adapter setup page.

Here is my setup:

Motorola SB5120 SURFboard modem->Linksys BEFSR41 router

BEFSR41 Port 1->computer
Port 2->Linksys WAP54G wireless access point
Port 3->computer
Port 4->Linksys RT31P2

Nothing is currently coming out of the RT31P2 (besides my phone line), though I plan on hooking up another Vonage adapter and another computer to it.

My IP addresses are set as follows:
BEFSR41 192.168.15.100
RT31P2 192.168.15.1
WAP54G 192.168.15.245

I didn't do anything special on the setup for the BEFSR41. Do I need to? Any ideas why I can't access the RT31P2's setup page? And, assuming I get access to it at some point, do I need to change any settings on it so that I can use it for another computer and Vonage adapter?

Thanks.

Angela

In order to access the adapter settings you need have it first in your setup off the modem.

You can also enable remote administration in order to access the RT31P2.

I have a similar setup.

Cable Modem - Router - Vonage Device

My computers hang off the Router not the Vonage device. In order to access the Vonage Device web pages, I enabled remote administration. On the RT31P2 it uses port 8080.

ALso remember that when doing this you need to use the IP address that your BEFSR31 is giving it, not the 192.168.15.1 that it uses itself.

Hmm. I tried using the IP address the router gave the Vonage device, but no luck with that, either. If I enable remote administration, how do I access the Vonage device then?

Thanks.

You need to use the IP your router gives the Vonage device AND use remote administration in order to access the web pages. Doing both is the only way to get to the pages while you computer is connected to the router in front.

So if the IP the Vonage device gets is: 192.168.1.101

You will access it with this link

http://192.168.1.101:8080

The :8080 is the default port used for remote administration on the RT31P2

Hope this helps,
John
