I recently ended an unsuccessful 3 month stay with Vonage--I think my problems are Comcast-related, but whatever. My problem is this: I ported my old Verizon number over to Vonage, and then ported it back to Verizon. It works fine for all purposes except one: my relatives who are themselves Vonage users cannot get through to me! They get a message saying that our number has been disconnected. I am assuming that this is because there is something in the Vonage system that shows my ported number as being canceled by Vonage, but obviously it's not then passing it along to the "outside world". Has anyone else had this problem, and any suggestions on how to best resolve it (if possible)? Thanks. |

you'll need to contact Vonage tech support and have them delete your # out of their system. Their system is obviously only reading the fact that your # has been disconnected from Vonage but should route all callers to your ported # anyway. good luck! |

Your phone number will not be automatically removed from the Vonage db, you need to call up tech support and ask them to remove the phone number from the database, or you can have your parents call to to have the # removed. When a Vonage user calls someone, it queries the Vonage db for the phone # first and since the # is still present in the system on a closed account, the calls will fail. Once they remove the # it will work immediately |
