I would guess that Vonage doesn't have access to any media gateways in Germany, which would mean that the IP-to-POTS transition would need to occur in the US. This in turn would lead to relatively high termination fees for calls to Germany which Vonage couldn't absorb. If you think about, by the time Vonage deducts their operating costs (and interest repayments) from your monthly fee they probably only have $10-$15 left to play with. If they had to pay, for example, four cents a minute to terminate a call to another country then that money would be eaten up in about four hours. |
