Post subject: best router to use with voange motorola MTAs
Hi there,
I just ordered 2 MTAs from
Vonage
. Im gonna use 4 lines on it. (2 and 2) What is the most reliable router to use? i've seen some people having all sorts of problems with netgear and some other stuff. I was thinking of either a plain 4 port DLINK or LINKSYS. Theyre pretty cheap, but I am looking for something reliable (in terms of
Vonage
connectability, call quality, etc) I dont want to fiddle around with ports, blocking, etc etc. Please let me know if there is a "recommended"
Vonage
router. thanks

I use a wireless Linksys WRT54G 802.11g router. It performs flawlessly.
No voice quality issues even when simultaneously downloading a file at 350 kbps through Mediacom cable internet service.
The Linksys wireless G router replaced a D-Link 802.11b router that failed miserably. It would lock up any time I had more than 1 device accessing the internet at the same time.

I use the Linksys BEFSR41 4 port router with all ports being used and another switch on 1 of the lines to add 2 more ports.

has worked great with this router. No port forwarding is required (even for VPN). One hint- keep it cool and well ventilated because mine crashes if it gets too hot i.e - the suns rays!
