Interesting behavior from my 15-month old Linksys V router. Recently, when the broadband is out, the phone connected to the router will 'ring' (about a 1/4 of a real ring... a tinkle? ) every ten minutes or so.
I know this didn't use to happen. Is this a new feature I can't find doc on? Perhaps in connection with all the E911 issues where they now want you to *know* that your phone can't be used in an emergency?
I sort of like it, as it tells you when the broadband is out and when also when it's fixed, but it can be a pain that it 'rings' so often, and all night long, if the cable folks take a while to repair things. I know we can unplug the phone from the router, but is there any way to disable or modify (more time between rings...) this feature if you want to?
Now, if no one knows what I'm talking about, why would this occur only when the broadband is out?!
RT31P2 firmware is 1.30.01 (9/2/05), so that's not new. |
