I just plugged my phone adapter into my existing phone line inside my house. Everything appeared to be working. I picked up the phone and received a dial tone. I plugged a phone into all the phone jacks and verified that I got a dial tone. I even called the house and got all phones to ring. So, I thought everything was good to go. Only to find out the following day that I could not dial out. Can anyone please help me figure this out. I have went back to just using my phone adapter with just the phone and it works with no problems. Thanks for you help in advance.

Are you certain that you've disconnected any old landline wiring from the house wiring? If not, make sure it is before you plug your Vonage box back into the house wiring. Did you try re-cycling power on everything when your setup failed, or did you abandon that setup right away?
What Vonage adapter and other networking components are you using? If anything is wireless, were any of the phones you had hooked up 2.4 GHz cordless phones? That can cause very strange interference problems. |

I am using the linksys Voip RTP300. I have a coordesll uniden 5.8 phone system with 3 phones. Yes, I did try rebooting the RTP 300 and also my cable modem and my wireless router. I am trying to figure out how to paste my pictures of my NID box shortly.

It appears as if all the house wiring goes to the top plug in the box. With the tab open as you have it, the landline should be disconnected from the house wiring. If you leave it open like that (temporarily) and plug the Vonage adapter into a wall jack, do you get service as you did before?
(If you're not sure that the landline connects to the top plug, open all three tabs before trying to plug the Vonage box into a jack.) |

Steve48, I actually tried what you said there about leaving the tab open and that didn't resolve the problem. I then looked at the telco said and I unscrewed the first terminal and removed the blue and blue and white wires. I plugged in the phone adapter into my house jack and it was working like a champ. Thanks, for replying to my question. msykes |

Thanks for the feedback. Apparently opening that tab doesn't disconnect the POTS line from the house line. I'm surprised. |
