Gee,... I like to whine and complain. When you get old(er) that can be a major activity.
However, where the Vonage system is concerned, with the exception of an initial faulty adapter (cancelled within the 30-day period and started over), I've been able to work through all the minor problems.
I also share the system with a lady of the house who makes very good use of it (she whines and complains that I'm on the line when she wants to make a call).
As far as waiting for your "regular" telephone number to be ported, my quick shortcut was to simply forward it to my Vonage number. By eliminating the second line (I'm retired, no need for fax any more) and cutting long distance costs, I'm saving lots.
Still, give me a few minutes and I'll think of something to whine and complain about. |

The reason there is more (or more perceived) whining (or complaining) in the technology sector is that there is typically something you can do to correct things yourself. If there was an active WalMart user forum they might include electronic store directories to help you find things, people in a MacDonald's user forum might share tips for the ingredients to add to a meal to make it better. . |
Maybe it works like this, then: commerce is the enabler for technology over-promising and under-delivering.
I do think there is something about tech that causes great fits of optimism - the shock of the new and all that, followed by a long, gray hangover.

edit - Great idea, btw: a McDonald's user forum, where they hack the food. |

BTW: I just had a co-worker inform me that his Vonage bill hasn't increased one cent in four months. |

He must not be looking at his credit card bill to closely because in the last 4 months Vonage has started to charge $.99 for E911, reduced their regulatory fee from $1.50 to $.99 and added sales tax for the states that mandate it. The first two everyone has to pay. |
