The original adapter was from Vonage.
I was just on the phone for over 5 minutes with no trouble. I never made it past 2 minutes before.
All my benchmarks seemed fine, so that pointed to a hardware issue.
Of course, my email request for a cancellation did no good, since they wanted me to call them....
Nothing more frustrating than being without a phone, and the only way you can fix things is to call someone.
Thanks for your help. |

If I use my PAP2 at work, it is great....bring it home and I have the same problem you described. I would assume it is not hardware in my case...did the new unit solve your problem? Also, is your ISP cable or DSL? |

I think that in my case, I have narrowed it down to an overheating adapter. Even the new one started doing strange things...losing signal, etc. But when I put one corner of the adapter up on something so that the air could circulate underneath, then it worked fine.
Is your on a rug at home? They don't like rugs. |

Mine is actually standing vertical on a desk, about 2 feet from any other device. I have left it off for hours (long enough to cool down) and have the same problem immediately after firing it back up.
I'm giving a new adaptor a try, but highly suspect my ISP is doing something fishy on their network to make Voip 'difficult' |

Hmm..
I use Adelphia cable. Most DSL carriers have their own Voip, so they don't allow Vonage, at least not without a charge. |
