PostPosted: Mon Jun 05, 2006 9:33 pm    Post subject: RTS300 - Wireless - VPN Issues Reply with quote Back to top

I'm getting very annoyed. After playing with my Cisco VPN client for hours (worked on EVDO just not Vonage) I assumed I had a router issue. After browsing the forums, I'm realizing others are having the same issue but I can't seem to fix mine. Here is my setup:

Cable Modem------WAN Port of D-Link 624+ -------RTS300

I tried going from my dlink via crossover and straight though, in each RTS300 lan ports and the RTS300 internet port. Still can't get a dail tone. I assume that my VPN will work since the D-Link router is hitting the internet first, not the Vonage.

Local IP of Dlink: 192.168.66.6
Local IP of Vonage: 192.168.66.1

Do I need to forward ports to the Vonage router? I tried making 192.168.66.1 the DMZ but still no dial tone. The WAN side of the RTS300 is "obtain ip address automatically". Not exactly sure what my next step should be.

Just to be sure, are we actually talking about the RTP300 Vonage adapter? If so, and if your ISP uses dynamic addressing, start troubleshooting by eliminating the D-link. Plug the RTP300 directly into your modem and see if things start working. We'll go on from there.

With your setup, you should not have to use crossover cables and the connection should be from the D-link to the internet port on the RTP300, but let's first get the RTP working without the D-link. It is registered with Vonage isn't it?

The RTP300 works fine when it's directly connected to the internet (phone and all) but when I put the D-Link in between my cable modem (dynamic) and the Vonage adapter, I can't get the phone to work.

Try disabling the firewall on the RTP300.

Hi,

Assume it would be better if you leave the local ip address the same as 192.168.15.1, However configure the RTP for static ip instead of 'obtain ip automatically' and then assign static ip , subnetmask and default gateway on RTP according to your existing router.Connect lan port of existing router to wan of RTP. Also put the ip assigned for RTP in DMZ of your existing router.Perform a network power cycle. Everything should be good.

Thanks!

With the connection from a D-link LAN port to the RTP300 WAN port, do you get internet service on the RTP300 LAN ports? Do you have the D-link enabled as a DHCP server and the RTP set up to get its IP dynamically?
