I bought a Hawking HBB1booster and placed it in front of the Vonage unit (linksys RT32P2). Do I need to turn off the QOS on the linksys unit? |

Do you NEED to? Probably not. But I would. The HBB1 will handle the QOS, so why make the RT31P2 do any extra work that it doesn't have to? I have the HBB1 with an RTP300 (QOS disabled). My Vonage line hasn't been more stable. Regardless of what I throw at it (peer to peer, SSH/Remote Desktop, etc), the clarity of the line remains perfect.

I also use the Hawking HBB1...it sits between my Cable Modem and my Vonage/Linksys router (WRTP54G). Whenever I "disabled" the QoS on the WRTP54G, somehow it always re-enables itself. No issues here with QoS enabled on the HBB1 and the WRTP54G.
BTW, I have never seen any optimizing messages since I've been using the HBB1. |

Definitely turn of QoS on RT31P2 and let HBB1 do the QoS job. I tried many combinations and this is by far the most stable. |

As many others have said turn off QoS on the Vonage device. I have my HBB1 between my Cable Modem and a Linksys WRT54GX4. I had QoS enabled on the router and using the HBB1 and my stability improved when turning it off on the router. The way I look at it is that you don't want more than one thing trying to prioritize the traffic, regardless of what that one thing is. |

Thanks for the responses everyone. It appears the general consensus is to turn QOS off on the linksys and let the Hawking do what it does best. Thanks again. Best regards |
