I just fixed an issue I had sending faxes through a regular Vonage phone line using my Canon MultiPass MP390 all in one fax/Printer. Last year I had no problems faxing, it worked right out of the box. Then at some point it just stopped working. I just tried all the usual things such as reducing the baud rate and setting ECM off. Then I read earlier postings that say to dial *99 in front of the fax number eg. *991973-999-9999. This fixed my problem, and I can trun the baud rate up to 33,600 and ECM on and it still works. Don't want to take credit for the *99 since other people posted on this, but I have seen many recent postings with the same issue, so want to remind people to use the *99.

Well, kind of.
What *99 does is it turns off all other services on that line; such as Voice Mail, Caller ID, Call Waiting..., blah, blah... in order to give you a clean data line.

mmm *99 eh... so.... does it mean... that...... if all Xtra features on SOFTWARE FAX (say FaxPro) is disabled too, it's bound to work w/ Vonage?
(well, i dont have those softrware fax tho... just wondering) --- Heard if any one here had successfully received / sent fax msg sharing a Vonage Voice Line?
