Over 80 Percent of Vonage U.S. Subscriber Lines Now Have E911.

Totally inaccurate statement. Iv'e had Vonage for 1yr+ and still no E911. Given the fact that I live in Ohio's state capitol and a state that has 88 counties only FIVE had E911 capabilities. Come on Vonage, be a little bit honest!

Your conclusion that Vonage is not being truthful about their E911 coverage does not logically follow from the information that you have posted.

You are but one person of the 1.5 million of subscriber. Even at 85% coverage Vonage has 225,000 subscribers still uncovered by E911. The number is probably closer to 300,000 based on Vonage's press release.

You additional information about Ohio coverage does not really add to the situation. According to Vonage, and supported by industry insiders, the roadblock to E911 roll out is the ILEC providing Voip access into the PSAP. It is logical therefore that the non-covered areas would be geographically related due to the nature of the distribution of the ILECs.

The question about accuracy here is valid. The press release says that over 80% are covered. The forum digest said 85%. I think that the actual percentage is not as relevent as the continued effort at rolling out E911.

6/1 more than 80%
4/18 nearly 80%
4/6 over 75%
3/30 over 1 million customers with E911
3/22 nearly 70%
2/17 a majority of customers have E911

Note that there are two ways for these percentages to increase. First is through access to additional PSAPs. Second, Vonage may have prioritized E911 in strong growth areas so that new customers are being added in E911 covered regions.

I disagree with your response.

1. Vonage has promised E911 for one year now still no E911.

2. I live in a metropolitian are of 1million+ which I'm sure one of the larger growth areas

3. The 5 lame counties they have up on e911 are probably at best the least populated counties in the entire state.

4.Vonage has only added 1 county in the past SIX months in the state of Ohio.

5.Only 83 counties to go! At their rate the entire state should be covered in 10yrs if they are around then.

I understand your frustration at the rate of E911 deployment, but take a deep breath and look at what they announced - 80% of subscribers, not of exchanges or counties. The two things are simply different, and yes, Vonage is using the number that makes them look best. While the number of subscribers is going to track with the number of exchanges on average, there is the 80/20 rule that also applies to some degree. Simply meaning that there are certainly areas of higher concentration of Vonage subs in a few large metro markets. Face it, percentage-wise, some huge number of calls origninate and terminate between east and west coasts.

I believe when they say 80% of subscribers have E911, that they in fact do have E911.

I agree with your final statement and dumped Vonage for another VOIP(Viatalk) carrier which up to this point has been flawless in the month i've had them. The Vonage forum does offer great solutions to problems people may have.

Just as a side note, they took the same approach in PA. Only several small counties got it. Larger one's in SE PA, such as Philadelphia county, Montgomery counry, Delaware county, still nothing.

Is there a list of ALL the counties that are currently E911 enabled somewhere? I know there have been several news releases, but they always only include the latest counties to be added and never seem to have a link where you can view a list of all counties.
