Post subject: Hard wiring and phone line blinking
Ok so before I go out and buy a bunch of wireless phones, I tried to hard wire the phones to the existing jacks. Did what the web site said, removed all the wires form the network interface unit(NIU), listened to check if the phones were dead(yes) and then plugged the
Vonage
modem into the wall jack. Two things occurred, dead silence on the phones plugged into the walls and the phone 1 line blinking. Any suggestions? Called customer support and they said attach a wire between the two posts on the NIU, tried that and no success.

you have a short circuit somewhere - the

ata thinks you have a phone off the hook.
how many pair of wire did you have comming to your network box...you probably got a ring and tip wire spliced together there.
post a picture or three and we may be able to spot the offending wire.
