Hi all,
I'm new to Vonage.... and have little but limited cpu knowledge so bear with me please....
I only have trouble with Vonage when it comes to online gaming.
My cable internet provider (Time-Warner) is saying that Vonage is causing my computer to send out 2 different Ip addresses and non of the gaming sites can distinguish the two.
I called Vonage and they said to call Motorola (they didn't give me a number to call)
I'm sorry that's all the information I have, if you have any suggestions, pleeeease suggest!
thanks, nlightn113 |

Ok, tell us what your physical equipment is and how it is set up, i.e. Cable modem connected to ?, and so forth. This seems like an easy one. |

Ok, try this first, go and do it now, then come back and tell us.
Shut down all. (Modem, Vonage, and computer)
1. Power on Modem only. Wait 30 seconds, or until all indications come on that you have a connection.
2. Power on Vonage device only. Wait until you have a dialtone and indications of a good connection.
3. Turn on computer. After it boots up, log into the Vonage device and look for the default gateway, WAN, or whatever they call it in their. That is your IP address facing towards the Internet, and the one you will use for gaming. Try all that and tell us what you find. |

well, i did it all, and the Ip address is the same as it was before.
there is still one number difference between Vonage and what my firewall says.
the Default Gateway and the Ip Address are both identical..... the Subnet Mask, however isn't (but i think it's suppose to be like that)
I'm getting ready to try this address again on a Gaming site to see if it works |

didn't work....
It has to be a problem with Vonage, because I've turned off everything I know how to on the firewall, and it never works!
do you have anymore suggestions Navy? |

What does IP Chicken say your IP address is?
Are you talking about your LAN IP address (the one the Vonage adapter assigns to your internal network) being 1 number different? Your LAN IP should be 192.168.15.100 (or similar) for your computer and the Default Gateway is 192.168.15.1 . |

It's not a problem with Vonage, your Vonage router is most likely misconfigured. Look in your manual on how to reset it to factory defaults and try again. |

I would agree with EzCo's comment on a factory reset. For the most part, forwarding isn't required with a run-of-the-mill setup, so maybe putting it back to stock configuration would be smart. Remember though, after you do that, restart in the manner I described to you earlier. |
