Post subject: WRT54G & VT1005 Setup Help
I have spend the last few days trying to setup a Linksys router with my new Motorola VT1005 with no luck. Could anybody please assist me (point me in the right direction) where am I going wrong.
Setup: Cable Modem - Linksys WRT54G (wireless disabled) -VT1005V - PC
Static IP address in the Motorola Terminal Adapter Status.
192.168.1.105
Subnet Mask: 255 255 255 0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
I am not sure but I read somewhere in this forum not to use DHCP so I disabled it and also to assign a static IP to the VT1005 so I did (192.168.1.105) in the range that the Linksys can find. For some reason when I try to ping the VT1005V the router can't find it. Should I be using the dynamic IP configuration?? Also what settings should I have on the Linksys WRT54G for best

I would use the dynamic configuration unless you have good reasons not to. It's easy, reliable, and relatively foolproof.
