i vote x = exit the program, if there is no taskbar resident progam icon but, x = close the window, and remain resident if there is a taskbar resident progam icon _ = minumize to the background
As long as you can exit by virtue of clicking on the taskbar icon. A resident program should exit through the taskbar icon. In which case the x is used to close the window, not exit the program.
Don't want to have to find the service, use taskman or reboot to stop the program.

Once you get this feature added, I would really like to have it. Will you post it to your website? |
You bet. It has been updated and uploaded. If you installed via the ClickOnce installation you should be notified that a new version is available when you next run the application.
One word of caution: I stumbled across the bug where the voicemail notification (blinking light on adapter and stutter tone when placing a call) does not get reset after a voicemail is deleted. I was able to resolve this by logging on to the Vonage website and deleting the offending message from my voicemail "Trash" box.
By the way, any of these limitations or known issues are documented on the website where I'm hosting the installations. I'd like to be as upfront about this stuff as possible.

I read your rules a few times, Rich, and still couldn't determine exactly what you meant. At this time I have implemented an option to have the form minimize when closed. Hopefully the inclusion of this option will satisfy both those who would prefer to close the application by way of the "X" and those who would prefer to explicitly close the application and have it minimize otherwise.
As always, I'm open to feedback on this and more than willing to make any enhancements or modifications as I'm able to. |

Just a quick note on two updates:- I received a suggestion that there be an option to automatically start monitoring when the application starts. I have added this to the Options menu.
- Also new on the Options menu is an item to minimize the form when the application starts. Used in conjunction with the option to start monitoring this may help those who wish to place the application in their Startup folder.
As always, let me know if you have any other ideas for enhancements. |
