Ok, this is an ongoing issue. Last Thursday I called Verizon to have my phone and DSL cancelled, not sure why but currently both are still active. Once all has been disconnected, I am switching to dryloop dsl but will cost me $42 a month!
1. Right now, the only phone working in my house is the one directly connected to the adaptor and pc. I removed the filter attached to my other phone but still not working. Perhaps because Verizon has not completely disconnected my phone + dsl service?
2. Should I switch to Comcast internet cable?
3. Is Vonage worth all these hassles?
VONAGE users and pros, I need your feedback! |

I have had Vonage 16 months now with no problems encountered other then minor temporary glitches. I use cable. The local cable company completely upgraded it's services 2 years ago including fiber optics right up to the drop. QOS seems to work as advertised on my Vonage provided adapter. If I am in the midst of downloading a large file and the phone rings the download just slows way down, The phone continues to work well.
Given a choice, I would choose cable, Vonage 500 minute plan and the optional tollfree number for long distance friends to use!
Of all I have read on the subject DSL seems to be the more expensive option and it also depends on those phone companies. Cable seems to vary greatly from community to community. Do the download test and see what you have and post it here. Poor cable=poor telephone service.
Hope this helps, It's an observation, not a detailed study. |

Major help in my decision! Yes I went through the comments yesterday and DSL presents so many problems, and the solution given was to go to the back of the house and rewire the entire phone system of the house. Hmmm...
Many thanks Snipe! |

the quality of cable versus DSL varies neighborhood by neighborhood. Ask your neighbors. |

Definitely ask around your neighborhood... There's some parts of Florida I run DSL in and other parts I run cable in, due to the particular companies operating those services there. |
