Can you give me a quick walk through on how I would assign my computer a static IP? Should I do it through the router configuration page or on my computer? |

I'm not very good with setting up computers, and different operating systems are different, but that's where it needs to be done. Remember what I said earlier about remembering anything you've changed so that you can get back to where you started.
In Windows XP you would go to start -> settings -> network connections. Right click on your network card and select properties. On the general tab double click on TCP/IP. On the general tab you'll see radio buttons to select dynamic addressing or static. It should be on dynamic now. Change it to static and fill in the information. That should do it. |

I had the same problem with the same motorola box,and here is what i did.....go into control panel and go to network connections,, right click on local area connection go down and click on properties click on tcp/ip and click properties,,,click on use the following ip address and use i.p 192.168.102.2 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.102.1 contact your isp for your preferred dns numbers and enter them........know you should be able to log into your box typing 192.168.102.1 in your web browser ,,,,its what i had to do to get into it to turn my dhcp back on ,,,,and as far as speed when mine gets slow i power cycle the modem and Vonage box and its right where it should be again,,,mine always slows down after using p2p programs,,,,hope this helps you,,, |
