It is kind of funny to first release a notice that he will appear, and then a new release that he will not....
I agree though, that this is probably due to the quiet period - I must admit that I was quite surprised to see that he would appear in the first place. |

I was watching Squawk this morning when this all was reported because I read the release saying that the CFO was going to be on to discuss the DSP and other items. This is when the Gasparino reported the buy back decision and soon after the release came out saying that the CFO would not appear.
They used the excuse that it might cause problems with the quite period but one would think that they would have thought of that before agreeing to appear in the first place. Doing an appearance on Squawk is not something you do just on a whim....
I think the failed appearance has everything to do with the comments about the buy back. It is CYA time. |

Although I think the cancellation was due to the quiet period, I totally agree with what you said. My guess is that this was a bad mistake due to lack of experience and/or knowledge relating to what can and cannot be said and done during the quiet period.
Either way; it is very clear that Vonage is in A LOT of trouble right now... |

Said here
| Quote: | | Meanwhile, the company seems to be having its issues on the public relations front. Vonage said Monday that Chief Financial Officer John Rego would appear on CNBC's "Squawk Box" program Tuesday, but this morning the company issued a statement indicating he wouldn't appear. The company later said it changed its mind because of concerns about violating the so-called IPO quiet period. |
