I think the 1444 is a good version to have. There's a big long thread about it on the DD-WRT forums... I haven't read the entire thing:

http://forum.bsr-clan.de/viewtopic.php?t=7414&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=belkin+1444&start=0

It looks like you'll have to use TFTP to flash it. The wiki mentions a TFTP procedure, but nothing Belkin-specific:

http://wrt-wiki.bsr-clan.de/index.php?title=Installation#Flashing_with_TFTP

You seem to be trodding on fairly fresh ground here, so be sure to search through the DD-WRT forums and wiki to figure out what exactly it is you're doing.

Listen, forget about trying to find decent QoS in any of these routers. The fact of the matter is that they don't work!!!

I went through this problem a few months ago, and came up with the PERFECT solution.

Go to the link below.

http://www.hawkingtech.com/products/productlist.php?CatID=36&FamID=80&ProdID=216

I bought a device which goes between the cable modem and the router, needs no configuration and works GREAT!!! All your QoS problems solved PLAIN and SIMPLE.

Try out the Hawking HBB1.

This is a plug-in inline QOS device.

I added it between my modem and my router and it works great.

PostPosted: Wed May 31, 2006 9:50 am    Post subject: DGL-4300 GameFuel Settings - QoS Reply with quote Back to top

I've been having a lot of problems with our voice quality and I believe it's due to poorly managed network traffic. I have 4-5 PC's running all the time, I have a Comcast connection 6mb/768kb.

went out and purchased a D-Link DGL-4300 because of the GameFuel feature which appears to be a relabeled QoS function. What I'm hoping for is some assistance in setting up the GameFuel rule for Vonage. Here is the info I need in order to set up a rule..

Protocol - (TCP or UDP). ??
Source IP Range - (I assume this is the IP of the Vonage adapter)
Source Port Range - ??
Destination IP Range - ??

Anyone ever set this up before?

The Hawking device sounds like an option for me as well but I thought I would try to utilize my routers QoS feature first.

like i said, its a bit out of my budget go for the Hawking or anyother device but if it really does work well and improves the connection, ill for sure look into it. i just was hoping that there might be an alternative like flashing a router to custom firmware to save some money. thanks for the advice.
