If you're asking how do you change your external IP, you likely can't. I suspect that, like just about every other ISP out there, Service Electric assigns you an IP. |

just a scenario..
Lets say you are aloud to click a certain link once every 24 hours. Obviously its based on your Ip address so check if you have clicked in the last 24 hours.
What i was wondering was is there a way to change that address, I was told this is the WAN(Wide Area Network) is the address that the web pages server checks.
So is there anyway to change that? |

So bascially you're trying to figure out a way to defraud the Google Adsense program, eh? Not gonna happen. Google and others have ways other than IP address to identify you if you're in one of their program. Click Fraud is a serious problem, and that's one of the reasons that ISP's WILL NOT change your address at your request. If that was the case, hackers and spammers would have a field day. |

You could try an anonymizer service, but most places that disallow based on IP will be able to detect that. In short, there's really not a way to change your IP unless you can contact your ISP and convince them to do so. BTW, this really isn't a Vonage topic and should probably be in the Cafeteria forum. |

Depending on how your ISP sets up DHCP, you may be able to get a new IP by changing your MAC address. Some routers offer the ability to use your computer NIC MAC or allows you to enter your own MAC. Your ISP then would issue a new IP for the new MAC. Keep in mind that some ISPs IP are tied to your MAC so you may have to update your MAC that is on record by calling your ISP. Good luck. |
