VT1005V versus VT2442 - What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? I have read the specs on each adapter. Is there anything else I should know? Thanks |

When they work, either one will be great. If you need to connect several ethernet devices then the VT2442 would be your choice. If you only need to connect one device, even if it's connected to a switch to the rest of your LAN, then the VT1005 will do. (I don't know if the VT1005V is any different.)
I happened to get a VT2442 which was faulty, and replaced it with a VT1005. One minor difference that was a problem for me was that the VT2442 came with a 120-240vac power supply, while the VT1005 came with a 120vac only power supply (wall wart). That could have been a problem for me when using it when traveling but, problem solved, I simply purchased a proper one (90-264vac/47-63Hz to 12vdc/1250ma).
So far, mine's working great. Good luck. |

one is old (vt1005), one is new. old one will not support anonymous call block and other features (if Vonage ever actually decides to support those features). the vt1005 only has one ethernet port as you read in the specs and really isn't something you want to run a network off of. it's more of a device you would connect to your existing network. |
