Calling Toll Free is always FREE on any Plan with any phone company except Cell Phone Companies as you still have to pay for airtime..
But ALL Toll Free calls are FREE with Vonage with any Plan.. and 800, 888, 877, 866 numbers are Toll Free Numbers. |

Thanks, that's good to know. I couldn't find anything on their web site or in their TOS that addressed this question. |

Try a toll-free number, then go to billing and expand it. You will see that you are not deducted any minutes for it. |

That is good to know. For some reason I always thought that any outgoing call (except to a Vonage number) counted against the plan minutes.
I just tested it and I do see that a call to a toll free number counts against the "Free Minutes" and does not deduct from the "In-Plan Minutes".
The only problem that I have with Vonage is that my Dish Network receiver has problems connecting when it tries to phone home. It eventually makes it through but I can see in the Call Activity page that sometimes it takes a few attempts to get through. I figured that this was not a problem as long as it did not make dozens of calls a month. I am on the Limited Plan and was worried about using all of my minutes. Now I know this is not an issue. The Dish NEtwork number is toll free so these calls (and retries) are free.

only should count against your minutes when you make long distance phone calls as Local Calls, Toll Free Calls, Vonage Calls are always FREE... So with your Dish Network it shouldn't take from your minutes as long as its using a local access number... |

No, local calls to a non-Vonage number do count against your allowed minutes. Vonage doesn't distinguish between local and long distance within the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. |

odd I'm on the $14.95 Plan and call my mother-in-law all the time and it never has counted against my minutes. |

And your mother-in-law is not a Vonage customer? I'm on the 500 minute/month plan and local calls definitely count against my minutes. |
