When I said shop around I wasn't talking about going back to Qwest but rather one of the other providers that include the taxes in the monthly charge.

I concur with that! Some of those taxes are not real taxes anyhow but fees for doing business. I hate it when a price is quoted but cost more then the quoted price!

I took a trip to California for two days last month and it drove me nuts! The Hotel room that was quoted for $89.00/night was actually $114.00/night when I got the bill! A zillion taxes listed and a $12.00 parking fee. How can you look me in the eye quote me $89 bucks then hand me a bill for $114 Question To top that, everything I bought in California cost 12 1/2 % more then the stated price. "How much is that nut and bolt sir? That's $2.12. I'll take it. Good, that will be $2.39." Say what??

I'm in MA.

Before:
Code:

Premium Unlimited Plan for
  1-(508)-xxx-xxxx (23/Oct-22/Nov)   $24.99
Regulatory Recovery Fee               $1.50
FET Tax                               $0.75
Total Amount                         $27.24

After:
Code:

Premium Unlimited Plan for
   1-(508)-xxx-xxxx (23/May-22/Jun)   $24.99
Regulatory Recovery Fee                $0.99
Emergency 911 Cost Recovery            $0.99
Federal Excise Tax                     $0.81
Total Amount                          $27.78

I don't see sales tax on here - is MA exempt?

Yeah, but he compared 2 months in the same year. The other comparisons were from a year ago and now. The difference is more substantial when you look back before the fees were added (not much more, but still more).

Yeah, I know, but I thought it was this billing cycle that they may be adding the state taxes.

The same for me over the last year, about 50 cents (not .50 cents Wink). The RRF was $1.50, they lowered that to $.99, but added the 911 charge or $.99. No PA sales tax, thank god!
