and hence, reviewing the very same myself after your post..., using Vonage outside of the USA or other supported countries does not appear to be an out-right violation of the Vonage TOS.
It merely looks as if Vonage can refuse to provide you support. |

...and cancel your service if they find out. Whether you allow the posts or not is clearly up to you. However on a side note, ToS 2.6 is clearly a statement that the service is not to be used outside of US and Canada. The penalties for doing so are fairly irrelivant. Using service outside US and Canada = violation of 2.6. I'm not sure how it could be interperated differently. |

Hi Ibrahim and the rest,
I was wondering if any could get the vonage VoIP working in UAE after it had been blocked?
Do you think they only blocked vonage ports which are UDP 10000-20000
Did someone try another provider?
Please let me know |

Hi All,
I have just moved from Bahrain to Dubai. I have worked with Vonage Tech Assist in order to get my service working in Bahrain. So I am not sure about the previous statement:
"The penalties for doing so are fairly irrelivant. Using service outside US and Canada = violation of 2.6. I'm not sure how it could be interperated differently."
Vonage was fully aware that I was outside the US and CA.
I have contacted Etisalat they informed me that they are blocking all outbound (leaving UAE) voice packets because their system will not take the additional load. They are currently working on a VOIP "Service" which will allow users to use a VOIP phone.
Which I took this as it will be allowed only if you are using Etisalat's "Service".
But it was reported in the Gulf Daily newpaper (Bahrian) stating that blocking VIOP is a Political issue more than a Tech issue. Meaning $$$$$ lost by etisalat if they allow the traffic.
So to answer your question, with the exception of DIC, VOIP is Blocked in most areas of UEA in which Etisalat has noticed outgoing Voice packets.
Peace, Stepnharp |

Additional load? Yeah, that 90Kbps per call must be killing them. No problem streaming porn though I'm sure... |
