I don't know, maybe it's because their (Google) net income was almost $600 million in the 1st quarter of 2006. The way I see it, Vonage is a company that offers a valuable service at a very reasonable price which is the simple explanation for their explosive subscriber growth over the last few years. However, I think all of us were a little spooked by the fact that they have yet to turn a profit and there seemed to be no plan in place to change that. I agree that the company is positioning itself to be purchased and the IPO, for Vonage, was a success. Significant cash infusion will enable them to continue to plaster their logo on every advertising outlet and perhaps continue their subscriber growth until a heavy weight decides to make an offer. There is value in the customer base and the only way to lift the numbers into the black is to improve the economies of scale with another few million subscribers. I hope they can prevail in what I believe is one of the most competitive and fast moving sectors.

By the way, I tried to buy 200 shares through the program but wasn't allocated any. I thought there would be a short term push that would yield a few bucks and I was obviously wrong. Let's see if I can go 1 for 2 and say that Vonage will be purchased for $9 a share.
