I was not looking for the stock to skyrocket. But i was looking for an UPTICK. I was looking for 10% which is nothing much. But for it it to plummit that is not good.

If it would have stayed above 17 then i would have held to see what would happen. But the way that it is now im glad that i got out when i did..

Im not telling anyone else to bail on it. But i felt that i did what i had to do.

If people dump, it will just make it cheaper for us that want to lower our avg and obtain more stock. I think it's crazy to dump on the first day unless you really couldn't afford the stock in the first place.

What did you expect from an IPO where the company said they might never be profitable? Every legit news and market watch recommended not to buy and yet many did and complain that surprise surprise it went down.

The person that posted that if you can't afford to lose everything in a stock purchase they you shouldn't play is 100% correct. There is no sure thing, this isn't a movie.

I have trouble understanding those who say they will be leaving Vonage due to what happened in the stock market today though.

I can understand leaving Vonage if you are not satisfied with the service, or if you want to save a few $$ getting basically the same service for less elsewhere as you said - however, I do not think such decisions should be linked to the Vonage stock price.

For Vonage as a company the IPO was good as it provided the money needed to compete in the market place.

If the service was worth paying $24.99/month for before the IPO, then I do not see how it will not be worth it now...

I was going to go with my cable company anyway because of hte price difference. So it was inevitable that i was leaving. But this just makes me do it now. I am not BLAMING Vonage at all. It is not really their fault. It is a gamble with the market. Thats the way the cookie crumbles.

So i am not really blaming Vonage. But i did invest in Vonage and lost which is life, and i am not complaining that i lost. But if i can make back some of my money i am going to do that.

This is correct, the first minute or two of trading was above $17.

It is not possible for the first tick to be down anyways, the CEO was the first trade for a 1 lot, he paid $17 and slightly above for that trade. You people need to get some better data providers and not rely on Yahoo Finance and other free delayed garbage.

I believe in Vonage and think they have a good product to sell, but I certainly don't know if they'll ever turn a profit or ultimately be successful. Vonage is much like TiVo. Neither company pioneered their respective technologies, but both were the first to make a name for themselves and make the world aware of the technology. If you look at the story of TiVo, ultimately we may need to determine if we think that Vonage will survive. TiVo survives because it can differentiate itself in the market. Their service offerings and features are different than the personal video recorders offered by the competition. Vonage provides essentially no different feature set than SunRocket or Packet8.

I didn't get in on the IPO priced shares and in hindsight that was lucky, but I did buy in this afternoon at 14.90 and I'll see where it goes. I'm not a twitchy investor and I see that I've already lost some ground, but I'm not going to freak out and dump for a loss if the stock drops another $3 tomorrow.

You go on and on about how everyone here is a moron for thinking that the IPO would do well comparing it to the best of tech IPOs in the late 90s, and then you go into TIVO right away. How about we do compare this to TIVO? How did TIVOs IPO do? Why don't you go look that up, get back to me, and then connect the dots and see how people would have thought Vonage might have done decent on opening day. Maybe go read some research on IPOs and first day returns compared to longer term returns.

If you knew anything about average costing you would know that it is a practice that has been proven to be a worthless pseudo science.
