I'm having difficulty getting my RPT300 router working with my modem. See, the issue is after a recent reformat, I lost the drivers to my (outdated) ethernet card. But, not to worry, my cable modem (From Wide Open West, Michigan) can connect via USB, which I am currently doing. However, the problem arose when I attempted to reconnect my vonage...
Cable > both PC *AND* Router > Phones?
Is that even possible? As I said, for my PC, I can't use an ethernet cable to get internet to it, so I use USB, but can I get my Vonage working by having the ethernet plugged into the Vonage and the USB into the PC? |

Most modems I've worked with do one or the other, but not both. Your best bet is to download a driver for your ethernet card. Most manufacturers have drivers that will work with legacy cards. Forget USB!!! |

You CANNOT, repeat, CANNOT use both the USB and Ethernet ports on the cable modem. Anything that says differently will cause huge problems. It's a modem, not a router. Best bet, break down, go to CompUSA, buy a $12 Ethernet PCI card, and forget about that damn USB connection. It is an easy way out for cable installers to set up connections quick, and doesn't require them to actually understand what a network is.With Vonage, you have to use the real Ethernet interfaces or you WILL have problems. |

I figured as much. Like I said, I doubted it was even possible to do it, but I wanted to double check first. Otherwise the Boss wouldn't have approved spending any money if there was another solution -_- |
