Yeah, I guess we'll just have to see what happens . Lots of negative press in the last week, so I have to wonder if the bad press is from day traders trying to encourage an early sell-off, or Vonage's competition.
Since it's mostly individual investors driving this, hopefully demand will be strong for those who didn't complete the conditional offer process, but see Vonage as a good growth company.
I'm in! |

Same negative blah blah with Google.
I remember the exact same case against Paypal, and they got bought out by eBay a few months after the IPO.
I've been predicting the same fate for Vonage, and today news articles on how analysts predict it will get acquired comes out. |

I must have missed the names of companies perhaps interested in acquisition in previous threads.
Any guess as to who COULD be buyers for Vonage down the road? |

Are there any major cable carriers left that haven't built their own yet? It might be easier to buy than build. I'm suprised the cable companies are building their own, not just teaming up with a Vonage, charging a bit more for the "name" and pocketing the difference. |

It has been reported that Vonage was seeking a buyer before the IPO and there were no takers.
IMHO, it is too easy to enter the Voip space. Big companies can just build their own Voip solution and market it to their existing customers. The RBOCs and Cable companies can bundle the service with existing products.
Other internet companies are already preparing to enter the Voip space: Google, Yahoo, AOL, MSFT. Ebay is already there with Skype.
These companies will try and steal Vonage's customers. It may be tough going down the road.
That said, if Vonage can survive, their customer base will be worth something. But how much?

In the end, there will be clear 2 winners, like cell phones. It's all about branding/trust. |
