Hey folk, Just got my motorola box and configured it for pass-through mode because I have 4 PCs behind a 4 port router. The 4rth PC is plugged into the motorola box. Now I realized that I forgot to forward UDP port numbers. How the heck to I access the motorola box's config pages now? Thanks, Dave |

I think I now got it. Since I placed the motorola box behind the router, I set it up with a static IP and forwarded the necessary ports in my router's config. What I thought I could do was access the motorola's config pages using its static IP address, but I guess that doesn't work. If things go out of whack, looks as if I have to change the IP address on the PC hanging off the motorola box to 192.168.102.XXX in order to access the config pages...kind of a pain in the neck. Is there an easier way to do this? Is it possible to access the config pages of the motorola box from another PC hanging off my router w/o having to muck around with IP address changes? Thanks, Dave |

Not really. The Moto box's setup pages are only visible from its LAN (PC) port, not from the WAN side. But at least it's not something you have to mess with very much, once it's setup you don't really need to go there again.
But why don't you just get an Ethernet switch and put that behind the router? Every device can have its own port and no need for the pass-thru config at all. |

Quite frankly, I'm out of desk space and electrical outlets. Too many damn gadgets and it won't be long before the wife will say, "Clean up this mess!".
1. external HDD 2. wireless router 3. phone 4. speakers 5. scanner 6. printer 7. Handspring cradle 8. Motorola box 9. LCD monitor
Too many peripherals!
Eesh! |

Time for a dedicated data/voice area! Put up a new shelf and hang what you can from the wall, add a UPS and put the router, ATA, modem, new switch (you WILL need more ports, of course) and other odds & ends over there. The wife will approve (call it decluttering, you saw it on HGTV) and you'll have more cool stuff! |
