Another point.... Not saying that you should or shouldn't do this, but you could always open up the phone company side (that's what I did, because my alarm company ran all of the wires to that side). I had to use a hex driver on my screw gun to get it off, but it worked. |

after unplugging every wire in the NIB i was still getting a dial tone. there was a very small wire that i didn't notice that went into the house and into the basement. it led to a bunch of phone wires in a small alcove in my basement. it was very small and i never noticed it before. I unplugged the incoming wire to that and everything works fine now. Thanks a lot. |

Personaly, I left the outside box alone thinking that whatever I took apart some "helpfull" phoneman could put back togather and blow my MTA. I just cut the wires inside my house where they tied into my phone system. By-by Verizon. |

LOL Yeah, it was about the easiest thing in the world. Just test for voltage, clip 4-wires, test for voltage again and plug-in my MTA. I had already replaced all of my single outlets with double outlets so now if I decide to get a second phone line (my son is 10, so I have a few years to go, LOL) all I will have to do is plug a second cord from my MTA to the outlet. |
