The first PAP2 adapter I got was "Not Registered For Service In Canada" and the web site told me to call the help desk, save your time and return the adapter and get another as this really confused the help desk people.
I spent over an hour on the phone to the help desk, and finally gave up.
If you can, check the MAC address before you leave the store, they all have an Internet connection, if you have a WiFi hand held, they may have an open access point you can use (I know Future Shop usually does).

Post subject: No problems!
No problems here. I ordered service online directly from
Vonage
in January, and they had my RTP300 here (Victoria BC) within a few days. Plugged everything in, and it just worked. The only oddity was for some reason my voicemail had a message from
Vonage
Customer Service in it from last November. Seems like the last person who had my number didn't pay their bills, and
Vonage
hadn't flushed the message from their system when they cancelled his account
.
Three weeks ago I ordered
Vonage
service for my parents back in Toronto. My father, who knows nothing about computers, telephone wiring, or anything else had it all hooked up in about 10 minutes, including the hard wiring (I had wired the phone system in their home when they first moved in, so stepping him through the procedure on the phone was relatively easy as I idiot-proofed it beforehand. He still messed it up by pulling the wrong wire out the first time (disconnecting the kitchen phone instead of the Bell line which was very clearly taped and marked -- just a case of him thinking he was holding the right cable but getting the one below it), but that was easy to fix up). They have been completely problem free as well, and they have been very happy with their service so far (LPN wasn't available in their area for some reason however, but the number that
Vonage
offered was so incredibly easily memorable, this has actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise).
So, count two "no problem" votes here. So far from what I've heard from other Canadians who have had problems the majority of them bought their activation kits at stores instead of directly from
Vonage
. Might be worth another poll to see if there is a trend here or not.

Post subject: Cannot get Vonage to work
I have had
Vonage
service for nearly a month and I'm still trying to get it to work. I have followed all the connection instructions correctly and the settings seem to be right. However, when I try to connect to the internet, the server cannot be found.
I haven't gotten to the part where you actually connect the phone since I can't get past this step.
The troubleshooting instructions direct you to call or visit the website or to email. However, I have no working phone (not connected yet) and the internet as well as the email won't work with the service. How do I fix this?
I've borrowed a cell phone to call customer technical support and have had no luck. Bad reception, or no one to answer my call. I did get through one time, but the gentleman did not speak english very well. I had to repeat my questions and answers several times. It frustrated both of us. I ended the call.
I've heard so many good things about
Vonage
and really want to get my service up and going. Any suggestions?
Someone suggested disarming my firewall, but Windows XP suggests that it is a bad idea. If it is a firewall issue, is there any way around it without disarming it?
Keep in mind, I'm not a technical specialist. I barely understand most of the terminology. I'm a graphic designer and tend to know more about software and applications. Sad but true.
Thanks,

I keep phoning and phoning about delay on outgoing calls in BC and they are full of it. They just lie and lie and lie about how they have never heard of the issue, yet other people here report the same thing! My SO is so fed up we're switching. I'd stick it out but she doesn't have the same level of patience as me, thanks
