LNP Database???

Hi Everyone! I have switched my phone service from Qwest to Vonage to Sunrocket and (quickly!) back to Vonage and each time asked to have my number ported. I don't know where the heck it is. I know Vonage and others have access to an online database to find out who currently owns your phone number. Does anyone know what it is???

That db has been discussed here. I recall that it is available on one of the major cell phone company sites, but I do not recall which one.

I found out from a Vonage CSR last night it is Nextel. Act like you are buying a new phone and plan and check eligibility for number transfer and it tells you who owns your number.

You can find the telco that owns a given number by checking at this site:
http://nextelonline.nextel.com/NASApp/wnp/en/Action/PECLanding

This is a Sprint/Nextel site that checks if a number can be ported to Sprint. During that process it also displays the current owner of the number. You are not actually going to port to Sprint but you are using them to find out who owns it.

Enter your ZIP and phone number and click Check Availability. Then check the box that appears next you the number that you entered and select Continue.

The next screen will list that number again along with the telco that currently owns that number.

When I do this I see:
(703) xxx-xxxx PAETEC COMM INC WRLN

In this case, Paetec Communications is the carrier that Vonage has contracted with to host my number.
