For about the last week we've been having a lot of trouble
with incoming calls. I just spent about half an hour with
account management, and they admit that the problem is on
vonage's side and they are experiencing problems in a number
of area codes.

I really wish they would be more proactive about posting
service announcements. It's completely blank on their
web page for me. I don't know if they do this per user
or if it's global.

Frankly, if this persists, we'll probably go back to POTS.

For me to stay with Vonage, I'm willing to tolerate some problems, but disclosure is very important, so I can plan accordingly.

I'm in the 415 code (North San Francisco Bay), and I too have been having issues with people getting through to me. They either get a rapid busy tone or a "all circuits are busy" message. The problem is intermittent...sometimes they get through and I hear the phone ring, sometimes they get voice mail...but even though I have a Network Availability Number (my cell phone), that never seems to get triggered. I've had no outgoing call issues, though.

I spoke to tech support three times, with widely varying responses. On the last call, they finally escalated me to an "advanced service tech", and after waiting on hold over 20 minutes, the tech informed me that their San Jose Gateway (Production Issue 8784) was having problems and that they were going to fix it that night (Weds 5/17).

Since then, it's hard to say whether or not the problem has been fixed. But still, the experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth. I use this phone number for business calls and it's absolutely critical that my clients and coworkers can get through. And at the very least, Vonage should place notifications about these kind of network issues that directly impact their customers on the home page (or user's Dashboard).

I want the Vonage folks to know that if this issue happens again, I will cancel my Vonage service.
