Hello all,
Tonight I noticed an odd problem with some outbound calls. I receive a message from the operator indicating that the "Number is invalid" whereupon the operator quotes "0 1 0 1" as though that was the number I dialed.
Calls to and from my cell phone (Verizon) from my Vonage line work fine. However, three separate outside numbers, including one dialed directly from my Caller ID list, produce this "Invalid number" mesage. One outside number was a Verizon cell and another was a QWest land line.
Anyone encountered this before? Anyone aware of local outages? I'm in Utah (801) here.
Technical details: Location: Utah ISP: Comcast, Standard service, 3Mb down/ ?up? Modem: Linksys Wireless G Cable Modem Gateway Adapter: Cisco ATA 186 Setup: Gateway->Adapter
Thanks, Ephraim. Vonage user since the early days. |

That's pretty odd. Re-booting your setup when you're getting odd results is always a good idea, but I suspect that you have an issue here that will need to be addressed by customer service. |

If these are local #'s, what happens when you dial with/without the area code first? |

Rebooting seems to have done the trick. Why didn't I think of that?
That was a bizarre glitch. I could consistently call my cell phone, but no other number locally.
Update: I may have spoken too soon. I can't even call my cell consistently now. I think I'm looking at a battery/handset problem, however. I can't hear all 11 tones when dialing out. I'd be disappointed if the handset battery has already died after 3 months.
Cheers, Ephraim. |
